Constituency Meeting Minutes

  1. Meeting to order at 1010.
  2. Meeting minutes approved by Nancy Hunter and seconded by Cindy Powser.
  3. Treasurer’s report-service charge and reimbursement to John Scott for annual corporate fee. 1851.07.
  4. State Office Report-Governor’s Report; Susan McDevitt, RN, Florida Department of Health.

a.   Please review report of Emergency Services Task Force AHCA and Department of Health.

                                                               i.       Diversion Committee. John Scott represented the Flight programs. A request to extend the committee for a second year was recommended.

                                                             ii.      Cost and Compensation Committee.

                                                            iii.      Staffing and Services Committee.

    1. Trauma registry up and running.
    2. Survey process: There will be announced and unannounced inspections. CAMTS will be used as a standard for inspection. If a process is in place by the providers, this can help with the inspection process.
    3. 2002 Legislature:

                                                               i.       Emergency Medical Dispatch- in the process of being reviewed.

                                                             ii.      Paramedics scope of practice, advanced level related to education.

                                                            iii.      Licensure/accreditation for paramedics

                                                           iv.      COPCN

  1. State Communications/NFCOM: Randy Pierce
    1. Standardized list of every Florida flight programs primary radio frequencies. You can obtain this list from Randy. Please review for accuracy and let him know if changes are needed.
    2. Communications plan- RNAV flight following. Investigation of RNAV mandating their unnecessary service and charging $200/mo.
  2. Sharon Chandler has resigned her position as secretary treasurer. We would like to thank Sharon for all her hard work and dedication to our constituency committees.
  3. Nominations for secretary/treasurer position: Nancy Hunter from Bayflite was nominated by Karen Chamberlin from and seconded by Johnny Delgado. Congratulations to Nancy
  4. Nominations for Board members at large were received. Johnny Delgado nominated Karen Chamberlin from Aeromed of Miami and David Summers nominated Glen Jordan from Trauma Hawk. Nominations will remain open until 45 days before October meetings with candidates posted on Florida-Air-medical.org with announcements posted on the site also.
  5. Nominations for Transport Nurse of the Year are being requested. There will three awards given: rotor, fixed wing, and ground transport. Nomination forms will be sent out soon and awards will be presented in the October meetings.

    2. Links to ASTNA web page and bylaws to be added. Please let David know if you would like to see anything changed or added to the website. He has a link on the web page. A call for educational course related to transport teams is requested. Minutes can also be found on the web page. New map of Florida with each program listed provided by Bayflite web master, good work!

  7. AMTC in Orlando, September 24-26. Our Florida Chapter is sponsoring the TNATC course on September 21-23 as a pre conference. Information and applications can be obtained from the ASTNA web site. We are looking for funds from ASTNA for our sponsorship. Thanks to the AirCare team for helping reserve the rooms and research center! We can use help from the body for obtaining items needed for the lab and to help with the organization. Michelle will post on the web site.
  8. FAMA sponsoring the Disney Experience, geared mostly toward management. It involved touring the management of Disney and their philosophy on customer service. The Disney folks have been great so please thank them if you see them.
  9. Another great event at the AMTC is a Welcome to Florida party to be help on Monday night. Resort wear is the dress with lots of fun and surprises!
  10. New Business:
    1. Call to the body of ideas to help increase our funds. Karen Chamberlin suggested that we have a raffle at our meetings with nice price packages to be given out.
    2. Goal is for an increase in membership and request from National to help or local chapter.
    3. Nancy suggested that we seek out organizations that are willing to donate monies to our chapter to use for educational purposes.
    4. Remember our education certificate FBN 2196, is available for anyone to use at a cost of $2.50/person.
    5. Will look into cost for name change from Florida Chapter of NFNA to Florida Chapter of ASTNA.
    6. Michelle suggested that we look into making shirts to sell at the AMTC conference. Johnny Delgado suggested that we make it a group thing with FAMA, and FCNICU. Motion agreed by Nancy Hunter and second by Jim Howard to make this a collaborate effort. Motion to provide funds of a maximum of $500 to be spent on shirts was approved by Nancy hunter and second by Jim Howard. Research to begin for style and best price, suggestion to look into Air Graphics-Mike.
  11. Fixes needed to 64E.401 in regards to fixed wing transports that have no airworthiness certificates. Johnny Delgado suggested that the State require airworthiness Certificates should be submitted prior to getting their license. Motion to support that the State review enforcement practices and review the process of transporting agencies must have a license presented by Johnny Delgado and seconded by Nancy Hunter.
