·                     Meeting called to order by Johnny Delgado at 1315.

·                     Previous minutes accepted by Dave Zarker and seconded by David Duke.

·                     Treasury Report by Nancy Hunter:

·                     Membership by Nancy Hunter:

Reporting  8 current members. Thank you for all of your support. New applicants will receive an extra 3 months and be current for 2003.

 

·                     AAMS Update:   

The reimbursement checks for 9/11 have been sent out.

 

The Board as been reduced by 2 seats

JAROPS (Joint Aviation Regulation) and ICAT (International Carriers of Air Transport)

 

The fee structures have been adjusted and updated.

 

Declaration of air medical assets as FEMA assets

 

·                     DOT Course:

 

A motion was made by Roxanne Sams and seconded by John Scott to form a sub-committee to develop criteria for DOT course instructors. John Scott will head-up the committee.

 

Long-term goal:

          Instructor certification course

          State approval for CME

 

·                     FL Medicaid Reimbursement:

 

A motion was made by Dave Zarker and seconded by Dr. Laurie Romig to support moving forward with work toward changing the Medicaid fee structure so that it would resemble the Medicare fee structure.

 

·                     FAMA Elections:

President-Elect: A motion was made by Roxanne Sams and seconded by John Scott to change the bylaws to provide for a special election.

 

A motion was made by John Scott and seconded by Maria Fernandez to accept nominations, for President-elect, no later than November 19th (to be posted by November 20th). Please submit your nominations to Nancy Hunter at omgwafn@att.net.

·                     EMS Advisory Council:


There has been a restructuring of subcommittees. The air medical constinuency holds 3 seats. The subcommitteess are as follows:

          Injury Prevention and Public Relations  Michelle Kenly

          EMS Furtures Forum

 

The Trauma System Study Committee is focusing on looking at an increase in Trauma Centers and Trauma Systems.

 

A 9 month study for Preventable Deaths will be conducted in the Tallahassee/Jacksonville/Gainsville area.

Dave Zarker reports that the FL Chapter of NFPA is in progress

 

Joe Ferrara (Martin county) was named the Air Medical Ops representative for the FL Fire Chiefs Association.

 

Per Dr. Romig, The Trauma System Study Committee is working on a position paper with regards to the medical malpractice crisis. Dr. Romig is the co-chair.
